Yesterday, America’s coming spectrum shortage hit the pages of the Denver Post. As Andy Vuong reports:
By most accounts, the spectrum crunch is not a repeat of Y2K fears that turned out to be more bark than bite. Spectrum constraints have already pushed the nation’s largest wireless carriers to implement rate increases and new charges and to eliminate unlimited Internet data plans.
“It really is a big deal,” said Nancee Ruzicka, Denver-based director of strategy for market research firm Stratecast. “No matter what you’re willing to pay or what you’re willing to do, it’s almost going to become that gridlock situation where this is all there is. It’s a physics issue. There’s only so much spectrum.”
